    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: He was living in Grouville, Jersey, Channel Islands, according to the 1861 England and Wales census. Worgan, who attended the Royal Military College in England, purchased a commission as an ensign in the 61st Foot; a month later it was reported that he had transferred to the 59th Foot. Newspaper and government gazette notices suggest he was still serving in Jul 1872 (London Gazette, 16 Jul 1872, p. 3201).

He was in Vernon by 1891 or earlier and advertised in the first issue of the paper (14 May 1891). He was married and his house and studio shed burned down in Apr 1896. He moved to Greenwood the following year.

He is listed in the 1891 census for the Okanagan Valley. He is 40 years old, married (his wife's name is Amy E.), his birthplace was India, and his religion is Anglican. A 13 year old "lodger" named Annie Clark lived with the couple. The death registration index at the BC Archives Web site lists his age as 86. [17, 18]
