    • STATUS: Amateur (visit).
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Representing the Commercial and Western World, a Winnipeg newspaper, he visited the Kootenay region in 1893 from his base in Portage la Prairie, MB. A newspaper report described him as an amateur photographer.
      A few years later he was a militia major and correspondent for several U.S. and Canadian newspapers. He travelled with the Yukon Field Force along the Teslin Trail through BC to Dawson City, YT. At age 56, he enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 24 Sep 1914 and served for two years in England and France before being wounded and discharged.
