 Mystery Photos

How and why did O.C. Hastings acquire and market this photo by G.M. Dawson?

On a visit to Alert Bay, BC, in August 1885, geologist Dr. G.M Dawson took several photographs, one of which depicted the Anglican mission church. The photograph bears Dawson's unique identifying marks in the lower left corner. When he returned to Victoria, Dawson spent about three weeks working on preparations for the Colonial and Indian Exhibition held in London, England, in 1886.
