    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Having last lived in Christchurch, New Zealand, Canadian-German photographer Viertel, age 36, in Dec 1913 reached Vancouver, BC via the Canadian Australian steamship line. He owned the Crown Studio in 1914. When he married in 1933 he still considered himself a photographer. He moved to California and died in Los Angeles.
