    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: As recounted in Joseph Grinnell's monograph, Gold Hunting in Alaska (1901), Baldwin accompanied a group of 20 gold hunters, all men, to an area centered around Kotzebue, Kotzebue Sound, AK, in 1898. There are a few references to his taking photographs, such as this one where he attempted to photograph some Inuit (Eskimo) women:

"Clyde came with his camera to take some photographs, but the natives considered it 'bad luck,' and he was remonstrated with vehemently, and finally went away, dallying until he had taken a shot or two." (p. 23)
