    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: The Yukon Archives descriptive database contains this biographical history:
      John Sutherland was born in Manitoba in 1905, and moved to the Yukon in the late 1920s to work for the Yukon Telegraph Service of the Canadian Government. He worked in and around Cassiar, B.C. Sutherland was a photographer, and took many pictures of the places and people he encountered. He was married in 1942, and settled in California, becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1945. He was involved with the Alaska-Yukon club of southern California. Sutherland wrote many articles, and his photographs were used in many publications. He died in California in 1981.
