    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: In 1901 at the time of the Canada census he was living in Exeter, ON, with his family and working in photography. At some point he moved to Lethbridge, AB, where he worked as a solo photographer between 1907 and 1909. He then entered into a partnership as Handford and Askey between 1909 and 1910. He relocated to Penticton, BC, in 1910 and opened a studio there by Dec. At the time of the 1911 Canada census he was working as a photographer in Penticton, BC. He recorded his occupation as photographer in his 1914 marriage registration record. In the 1918 and 1919 business directories he is listed as the Handford Photo Studio. By 1921 he and his family (wife, a daughter and two sons) had moved back to Ontario where he was working as a photographer in Renfrew. Around 1921 he moved from Renfrew to Arnprior, ON, where he continued to practice photography until his death.
W.W. Handford's brother Samuel Augustus Lewis Handford (1872-1949) was also a photographer and it was likely from his older brother that W.W. learned the trade and craft of photography.
