  • Notes
    • STATUS: Studio.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: The son of B.T. and Louella Vinson, he was educated in Portland, OR, and came to BC in 1903 to work at photography. The 1931 Canada census indicates he immigrated in 1904. He co-owned the King Photo Studio between 1905-1906 and was sole proprietor between 1907-1933. His widow took over operations of the King Photo Studio.

Around 1911 he photographed Interior Salish Natives with the assistance of J.A. Teit. Vinson also ran the Progress Studio (1916-1917), at an address which was originally a branch studio in 1912 for the King Photo Studio.

Vinson's first name was given as "Vivian" between 1905-1909 and from 1910-1919 as "Valiant". He was married twice, first in 1899 in Idaho to Harriet (Hattie) May Newland (later Dean), and next to Blanche (Ducheny) Vinson of Portland, OR.

He was a reeve of West Vancouver in 1920 (BVAA PORTRAITS P. 289 and 689), and Vinson Creek in the municipality is named after him. Identified as "V.V. Vincent" in the Daily News-Advertiser, he was an official representative for BC to the Photographers' Association of the Pacific Northwest conference in Vancouver in 1910 and was elected its president that year.
