    • STATUS: Amateur.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: The first illustrated account by a photographer, Wilson's posthumous Guide to the Yukon Gold Fields (1895a) contains a "Memoir" by J.O. Hestwood, Seattle, dated 5 Jan 1895, in which is noted the author's death "just at the hour the book comes from the press." Two further guidebooks were also issued, one in 1895 and a revised version of the first account compiled and published by Esther Lyons who claimed to have accompanied Wilson's party.
