    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Prior to enlisting in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Jun 1918 he was a carpenter. His military service was short-lived as he was discharged as medically unfit in Aug 1918, never having left BC. He returned to Nanaimo and operated the Dominion Photo Studio in 1918. He was in partnership as Baxter and Bradford (Dec 1919-Oct 1921), then as McDonald and Baxter (Oct 1921-1925), following which he operated under his own name (1926-1927).
      Relocating to Victoria, he worked for Campbell Studio from 1928-1930, then as a photographer for Shaw's Studio in 1931.
      Moving back to Nanaimo he was there by 1934 as a photographer, worked as an insurance agent in Ladysmith from 1938-1940, then returned to Nanaimo as a photographer from 1941-1950. From 1947-1950 his firm name was Baxter's Studios.
