    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: A civil engineer employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway, he photographed along the railway line and took a portrait of the BC senators and "commoners" on a stopover in Victoria in Jun 1885. Beginning in Apr 1898 he was employed as an official company photographer.
    • IDENTIFYING MARKS: Some prints mounted, captioned and marked "J W H Asst Engnr Photo". Some print surfaces captioned and marked "J.W.H. 1884."
