  • Notes
    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: In a U.S. immigration from Jan 1910, he gave his address as Vancouver, BC, occupation as "artist" and final destination as San Diego, CA. He entered into a brief partnership with T.J Davidson, retaining the existing name of Davidson's Peerless Studio. Bain operated the Panama Studio in Prince Rupert in 1913. In his Massett Leader newspaper ad he claimed to have worked twice for the "world-famous" Lafayette studios. According to a 1912 article touting his arrival in Prince Rupert from San Diego, he had worked not only for the Lafayette studios in Glasgow and Dublin, but also for the William Notman firm in Montreal and "the leading studios of New York and Chicago." In the 1913 Prince Rupert business directory he was listed twice, once as A.M. Bain and then under his own name. A.M. Bain was an erroneous listing for D.M. Bain, the latter having previouly been a partner in the Peerless Studio operating out of the Alder Block.
