    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: As a young child (4) he lived in Perth, Scotland, with his family. In 1891 he was still living in Perth and apprenticing as an engraver. According to the 1911 Canada census, he immigrated in 1909 and worked as a photographer in Vancouver; he lived as a lodger with his employer, H.B. Nielsen, who operated the Artona Studio. At the time of his marriage in 1913 he gave his occupation as photographer.
      He began his photography career in Vancouver with the Artona Studio, then worked for W.C. Duryea as a photographer (1915), followed by employment as a photographer with the Elite Studio (1916). He next worked as a photographer for G.T. Wadds (1917-1929), followed by stints as a photographer with the Steffens-Colmer Studio and A.T. Bridgman. He worked as an assistant and photographer for the Gowen Sutton Company in the 1940s and continued to work as a photographer past 1950. [38, 39, 40]
