R.S. Vickers (1917-2008), who owned this carte-de-visite, was the great-grandson of photographer George Robinson, a contemporary of Craigg's and who had also once operated the Theatre Photographic Gallery.

In this letter to the editor of the Colonist, J.A. Craigg objected to the newspaper's insinuation that a "licentious photograph" had been taken in the Theatre Photographic Gallery. Noah Shakespeare's letter on the subject appeared in the same paper.
