    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: At age 15 he immigrated from England with his family, arriving in Quebec City aboard the Sardinian on 15 May 1909; their final destination was Winnipeg, MB. In the 1911 Canada census his occupation is a salesman for a carpet store. In the 1921 Canada census he was working as a shipping clerk and had two children. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on on 8 Mar 1915 and served in England and France. He gave his occupation as a grocery clerk on his attestation form. He was discharged on 17 Oct 1919. While he was not actually residing in Vancouver at the time, he gave his occupation as photographer in the 1916 provincial voters list.
