    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: According to the 1921 Canada census he immigrated in 1898. He served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War One and returned to Canada on the SS Minnekahda, landing in Halifax, NS, in Sep 1919. He had been taken prisoner by the Germans at the battle of Ypres in 1915. His CEF attestation paper give his occupation as photographer. His service record indicates that after discharge he intended on living in New Westminster. At least one document in his service record was also annotated with his date of death. Although he was listed as a photographer in the 1920 and 1924 voters list for New Westminster, the 1921 Canada census shows him as a patient in the mental hospital at New Westminster. The census gave his permanent residence as Notch Hill, Kamloops, BC.
