    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: According to his obituary he arrived in Canada in either 1889 or 1897, settling first on the Prairies, then participating in the Klondike gold rush. He worked for S.J. Thompson and then moved to Victoria where he operated C.H. Smith and Company, an art, photo supply and picture framing store. He and J. Savannah were listed together in the 1908 and 1910 directories. Smith was listed as being in business through the 1947 directories.
