    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Based in Chicago, this was a partnership of Charles A. Mayo and J.E. Weed. The firm were "special artists" for Grafton's Tours, also a Chicago company, and "this season [1891] accompanied one through Alaska."

J.E. Weed was the photographer who travelled to Alaska, with part of the outbound or return trip taking him through the scenic route of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Mayo and Weed published a catalogue and album of this trip. The catalogue described the views of this trip as either 5x8 inch and 8x10 inch. The firm also carried views of "Old Mexico" which were taken in the winter months on another Grafton's Tours. The Mexico images are not described in the catalogue.

The album reproduced on the CIHM microfiche contains 70 8x10 and 56 5x8 views for $30.00. The 8x10 views are first, following by the 5x8 views. A handwritten caption (or typeface simulating handwriting) appears below the image. Each photographs contains a white number imprinted in the lower left corner. There is no other identifying information on the photographs
    • IDENTIFYING MARKS: number in lower left corner of photograph.
