    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Primarily a portrait photographer, he also did landscape work. He moved into a new studio in Dec 1893 which the News-Advertiser described in great detail. His obituary reported he had lived in Sumas Prairie for the past 60 years. The community of Straiton atop Sumas Mountain was named after him. Mrs. Mary E. Straiton (born Jan 1870) was the first postmaster at Straiton (appointed 1 Feb 1904) following her death in 1939, T.B. Straiton was appointed Acting Postmaster from 24 Jun to 16 Sep 1939.
