"J. Dennis Allen was born in England in 1880 and came to Canada in 1904. He settled in Prince Rupert in 1907 and owned a photography (J.D. Allen Photographic Company) and stationery business. He was one of the first business enterprises to capture scenes of early Prince Rupert in his line of picture postcards. Allen enlisted in 1914 and served overseas in World War I. He was married in 1918 and after the war, he was proprietor of the Denny Allen Company until he moved south in 1949. Denny Allen died in Victoria in 1966."
