    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: B.B. Dobbs photographed primarily around the Seward Peninsula and was one of the first to use motion picture film north of the Arctic Circle (Alaska Moving Picture Company, established ca. 1909). He was awarded a gold medal at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (St. Louis World's Fair) in 1904 for his Inuit (Eskimo) photographs. Jones (1976) lists a Dobbs from New Whatcom (Bellingham) and indicates a partnership between Dobbs and Nowell in Nome. Dobbs also had a partnership as Dobbs and Kinne (A.B. Kinne) starting around 1903. The Lomen Brothers purchased his negatives and by 1914 Dobbs had moved to Seattle, WA, where he concentrated on his motion picture business.
