  • Notes
    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: He is supposed to have arrived in New Westminster in 1859 with the Royal Engineers and was active as a portrait and landscape photographer following the end of his military service. A newspaper article about a series of accidents in 1865 noted that he had been one of the victims. In 1876 Lady Dufferin, during her visit to New Westminster, was presented with

a series of photographic views of the city, its arches, decorations, etc., with which Her Excellency expressed herself highly pleased. The views were taken by Mr. Joseph Davis, and reflect much credit on the artist. (Colonist, 17 Sep 1876, p. 3)
