    • STATUS: Commercial.
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: According to one obituary, he arrived in Vancouver in 1891. His listing in one directory said "photographer" at Freeman's [R.H. Trueman ?]. There were, however, no corresponding listings for a Freeman in 1897. He left photography between 1898-1901 and returned to it after the turn of the century when he may have worked for or with C.M. Scott; they shared the same business address in 1903.

Selwood was a prominent rose grower and first president of the Vancouver Rose Society at its founding in 1947. He also edited the society's publication Rosebud (1949-1973).

A member of Vancouver's Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles (D.C.O.R.), 6th Regiment, he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 11 Sep 1915 and gave his occupation as postal clerk. He served overseas in England and France with the 72nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, and was discharged on 26 Jul 1919. He continued to work for the post office upon his return to Vancouver.
