    • STATUS: Commercial (visit).
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Employed by William Notman, Baltzly was seconded to a Geological Survey of Canada expedition which arrived in Victoria in Jul 1871 and subsequently journeyed up the Fraser and Thompson rivers as far as the Yellowhead Pass. Baltzly's journal of his part in the expedition was published in the Montreal Gazette in 1872 and reprinted in Birrell's biography. Baltzly worked for Notman from May 1870 to Jul 1875 and from May 1876 to Aug 1877.
