John T. Wagness travelled aboard the Humboldt but was unable to support himself or 11 children and his wife as a photographer. He returned to Stanwood and reestablished himself as a successful photographer. The negatives of Yukon life and Puget Sound life were discovered and salvaged by Ken in his brother's barn.
