    • STATUS: Amateur; Artistic
    • BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: J.M. Schwartz described him as "unquestionably Canada's outstanding amateur pictoralist during the late twenties and early thirties" (Koltun, 1984). His first Canadian award was a bronze medal at the Fourth Annual New Westminster Salon of Pictorial Photography (1924). He became a Fellow of the Royal Photograpic Society of Great Britain in the early 1930s. Helders was also a distinguished hotel caterer. He moved from the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, ON, to the new Hotel Vancouver where he was catering manager from 1939 until his retirement. He did not exhibit often after 1939.
